David Trezeguet urges Alvaro Morata to stay with Juventus amid transfer talk

Friday June 10 2016

Morata has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after players after an impressive season for Juve.

He made 47 appearances across all competitions for the Italian giants in the season just gone, scoring 12 goals in the process.

Real Madrid could activate a buy-back clause in the Spaniard’s contract, only to then sell him on for a massive profit.

But Trezeguet, who spent 10 fruitful years with Juve between 2000 and 2010, believes Morata should stay in Turin if he wants to continue to grow as a player.

He told Omnisport: "Morata finds himself in a good and important [transfer] market. For him he does not only depend on Juventus.

"He has grown a lot in Turin and he has to stay at Juventus if he wants to keep growing.

"Unfortunately, it is Real Madrid who decides his future."

Morata is currently in France preparing to represent his country at Euro 2016.

Spain, who are looking to win the tournament for the third time in a row, face the Czech Republic in their Group D opener on Monday.

And Trezeguet has backed Morata to shine, adding: "I see him doing well, and I think Spain are in a phase of change.

"They have a mix of older and younger players.

"Morata is part of those youngsters who want to turn themselves into great footballers."
