Nedved: Juventus to act quickly in transfer market

Tuesday June 7 2016

After securing their fifth consecutive Serie A title, the Old Lady are in the market for players to improve their chances of a Champions League triumph next season.

Pavel Nedved has admitted that Juventus must act fast during the transfer market in order to get business done before players’ values skyrocket this summer.

With the imminent arrival of Brazil international Dani Alves, Nedved acknowledged that Juventus must negotiate quickly if they are to avoid an inflated price, given the international tournaments taking place.

The Bianconeri target is currently in the United States for the Copa America centennial, where he featured in Brazil’s opening match, which ended up as a 0-0 draw against Ecuador.

“I will be in the United States,” said Nedved. “When Brazil play, I’ll be there. I will be in touch with the owners who will be in France.

“We have established contact with players that interest us and we must move quickly because the price of some players may grow rapidly.”

Italy coach Antonio Conte has received some criticism ahead of his 23-man squad selection for Euro 2016, but Nedved believes that the Azzurri can create a shock.

“The young players look promising. They can at least achieve at semi-final in France,” said Nedved. “There have been great players like [Alessandro] Del Piero, [Christian] Vieri and [Filippo] Inzaghi in the past who I know very well.”

Juventus clinched their fifth Serie A title in a row following an outstanding campaign last season, whilst fans will be hoping they can go for a record sixth.

“Five Serie A titles in a row has not happened for nearly 80 years,” said Nedved. “Winning six consecutive Scudetti has never happened, and that is our next target.

“Juventus is based on an Italian defence. We think that the core of this team should be Italian, then complimented with international stars.”
