Caceres out to continue Juve’s European journey

Wednesday April 9 2014

Martin Caceres has spoken of the Bianconeri’s hunger to secure a spot in the Europa League semi-final during tomorrow evening’s clash with Lyon at Juventus Stadium.

The Uruguayan said he predicts a tough challenge against Remi Garde’s men, but reiterated that Juve’s aim is reaching the next stage of their European journey and they intend to concentrate fully on it.

Speaking in Vinovo at Juventus’ pre-match press conference, Caceres began: “We’re enjoying playing in the Europe League at the moment. We’ve got a strong Lyon side in front of us now and we’ll look to make the next round with an excellent performance – that’s our aim.

“We’re playing every three days so we’re taking things game by game. Tomorrow’s is the most important of the week, and we won’t think about the league until that’s over.”

The 27-year-old has been a prominent figure in the black and white stripes recently, impressing all with consistently solid performances while filling in admirably for the injured Andrea Barzagli.

And he went on to say that he’s happy to be answering Antonio Conte’s call to go out there and help the team cause.

“I’m feeling in good shape physically and I’m happy to be playing all these games during this period when the manager and side need me.”
