Prandelli: 'We'll wait for Rossi'

Wednesday January 29 2014

Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli will “wait until the very last minute” for Giuseppe Rossi at the World Cup.

There were fears the Fiorentina striker would be ruled out of the tournament after damaging knee ligaments earlier this month.

Last night he had a check-up in Colorado that confirmed there is no need for further surgery, so he’ll be out for two months.

“Knowing Giuseppe won’t need an operation is wonderful news,” said Prandelli at a media event.

“We will wait until the very last minute for him, without doubt. I have no advice to give him, just to stay calm and not rush things, because a player like him can get into the squad list even on the last day.”

Rossi was a star of Italy’s Euro 2012 campaign, in which they reached the Final, but was out of action for almost two years after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament twice.
