Italy coach Cesare Prandelli is expected to outline the steps he will take to select his World Cup team for this summer’s World Cup in Brazil in the coming weeks.
Prandelli will have the 23 players on the World Cup squad announced by June 3, but reports have shed light on the process he will take to whittle his team down to that number.
Tuttomercatoweb are reporting that Prandelli will release an initial 35 man roster for May 13.
“I only have 18 [players] in my head. To complete that I have to first understand how those 18 are and then add the others,” Prandelli recently stated when asked about how many players he has locked in for the tournament.
Italy will open their World Cup against England on June 14, then they will play Costa Rica six days later. They finish the group stage on June 24 against Uruguay.
