Allegri sets out Juventus targets

Saturday July 9 2016

With the objectives for the new season set out, the Italian tactician will hope for another successful campaign in Turin.

In his first interview of the new season, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has insisted that he expects more enthusiasm than ever from the players.

The Bianconeri secured a fifth consecutive Scudetto last season, and will hope to continue their domestic dominance along with making an impression in Europe.

Allegri is evidently as hungry for success as ever, and outlined what he would like to see from the squad in the coming months.

“We’re starting over,” he told Juventus TV. “It’s a new season, there are many youngsters involved but this month should be lived with enthusiasm.

“Last year, we finished on June 7 and the players had 35 days of rest because then there was also the Supercoppa. This year we have more time even though the European Championship has taken away a lot of players who will arrive in the coming weeks.

“The first target is the Scudetto, along with a great campaign in the Champions League. We have to work every day. There is also the Supercoppa, but we’ll need a bit of luck in these competitions too.”

Meanwhile, he also jokingly responded to questions about those still involved in France, with Paul Pogba and Patrice Evra set to arrive late to pre-season training.

“They have asked for a week’s extra holiday,” he added. “That’s fine as I was actually going to give them two weeks but it’ll just be one!”
