Juventus continue to chase Valencia midfielder

Saturday June 11 2016

Andre Gomes is currently on international duty with Portugal, but a deal could be difficult to negotiate given his great performances for the Spanish side last season.

Already active in the transfer market, Juventus are not done yet and are looking to sign midfielder Andres Gomes from Valencia.

The Italian champions have all but completed the signing of Dani Alves after the Brazilian defender left Barcelona and have a deal in place to sign Miralem Pjanic from Roma.

Yet coach Massimiliano Allegri is looking for more numbers in midfield with regulars Claudio Marchisio and Sami Khedira injury prone.

Juventus’ first choice to strengthen their midfield is Portuguese midfielder Andrea Gomes and his club Valencia are willing to let their star man leave.

A €40 million price tag has been placed on the midfielder by owner Peter Lim, and given several clubs are tracking Gomes, it will be a difficult deal for Juventus to push through.

It is unlikley that the Italian champions will pay such a high fee and Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta will hold negotiations with the Spanish side to lower the asking price.

At just 22, Gomes had a breakthrough campaign last year making 30 La Liga appearances and is part of the Portugal squad at Euro 2016.
