Benfica - Juventus

Friday April 11 2014

Juventus will play against Benfica in the semi-finals of the Europa League, whilst Sevilla will face Valencia.

The Bianconeri, who dispatched Lyon 3-1 on aggregate yesterday evening to reach the last four for the first time since 1995, will meet Jorge Jesus’ outfit for a place in the final, to be hosted at Juventus Stadium.

The last time the Old Lady met with Benfica was in the quarter-finals of the 1992-93 UEFA Cup, which Juve won through 4-2 on aggregate.

The other semi-final is an all Spanish affair, with Valencia drawn against Sevilla.

The first leg of both ties, which will have Juventus and Valencia as away, will be played on Thursday April 24, with reverse legs held a week later on Thursday May 1.

At today’s draw, UEFA also determined that the winners from the semi-final between Sevilla and Valencia will be the nominal home side for the final.

This means that should Juve make it through to the final on May 14, they will face the curious experience of being the designated away side at their own ground.
